Mr. Tim Ilse
Interim Director of Schools, KAUST

Biography

Tim Ilse is the Interim Director of the King Abdullah International Schools (KAIS) at KAUST. 

Prior to joining KAUST, Mr. Ilse served as a middle school principal for the American School in Japan, the American Community School of Abu Dhabi, and the Annandale Middle School in Minnesota. In that capacity, he developed a schedule that increased student contact time in elective classes without reducing the time spent in core classes, and coordinated the work of several committees that planned the school’s policies and operating procedures.

In his most recent position, he administered the total operation of a small school for the children of North American parents who worked for a mining company in Arequipa, Peru, including coordinating the school’s educational program . In addition to his responsibilities as a director, he also taught language, arts and social studies to middle and high school students.

Mr. Ilse earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Hamline University, and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from St. Cloud State University. He was also the recipient of the Bush Principals' Fellowship, and a consultant on middle school program and philosophy for three years.
