CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY

The Campus

The KAUST campus and community are situated in a unique coastal location near the fishing village of Thuwal, 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Jeddah. The total area spans more than 36 million square meters, including a unique coral reef ecosystem that the University will preserve as a marine sanctuary.

The campus will incorporate a distinctive blend of traditional regional architecture and modern styles and amenities, evoking ancient centers of learning within a context of high-tech science and engineering facilities.

Each of these neighborhoods will contain:

  • children’s schools
  • a variety of housing options
  • retail and community services
  • diverse recreational amenities including athletic fields, a golf course, yacht club and marina.
