As indicated in our cookie banner, KAUST uses two types of cookies:

Essential Cookies

KAUST uses SiteFinity cookies to enable the website to function. These functional cookies are stored only until you close your browser. These cookies remember the ID of the current site and record the time of the first page visit and the landing URL. The SiteFinity consent tracking cookie keeps track of your cookie preferences and stores your preference for 1 year.

KAUST also uses Imperva Incapsula DDoS Protection and Web Application Firewall cookies to link specific sessions to individual visitors to support session management and for information security purposes, to protect against illegitimate users accessing the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics cookies to improve the performance of the website and ensure your repeat visits to the website are more efficient, practical, and relevant. Google Analytics cookies count visits and traffic sources to measure and improve our site’s performance.

They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. We may learn about your geography, device, operating system, browser type, language, referring website, access times, previous site accessed, website activity within KAUST’s websites, whether you are a new or returning visitor, keywords and search engine terms used.

KAUST does not disclose to third parties your personal information, including information about your use of the website, except as set forth below:

Automated profiling or decision-making

No automated decision-making or profiling is conducted through the collection of cookies.

Retention

Google Analytics automatically destroys collected cookie data after 26 months. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are saved on your device for up to 3 years and may be deleted at any time by clearing cookies on your browser.

Use of website by children

The website is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and KAUST does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
