The Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently announced that KAUST Associate Professor Jr-Hau He is one of three selected scholars who will receive the Nano Energy Awards 2019.
The Nano Energy Awards were established by the Elsevier International Conference on Nanoenergy and Nanosystems (NENS) in 2014, and the awards are given once every two years. The winners will receive their awards at the 4th NENS conference from June 15 to 17 in Beijing, China.
The three selected researchers were chosen from a large group of scientists nominated for their outstanding achievements in energy-related disciplines.

He was selected for his work on the understanding of light-matter interaction, including his work on photon management for light-harvesting devices such as photodetectors, solar cells, LEDs and photoelectrochemical cells. He has also made great strides in the field of optoelectronics of 2D materials through the use of photon management.
Both He's Ph.D. and bachelor of science degrees come from National Tsing Hua University. From 2007 to 2014, He was an assistant/tenured associate professor at National Taiwan University. He then joined KAUST as a faculty member in 2014.
He is the distinguished lecturer of the IEEE Electron Devices Society and the IEEE Nanotechnology Council. He is also a fellow of the Optical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry and SPIE.
