KAUST joins Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced the launch of the first Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance with KAUST, a founding member alongside the Research, Development and Innovation Authority and Topian, the NEOM Food Company. 

The alliance aims to provide a platform to unite and mobilize a complementary network of food and agriculture stakeholders, catalyzing the national-scale deployment of AgriFood technological solutions.  

The Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance includes around 40 entities from the public and private sectors, research and academia, and nonprofit organizations. 

H.E. Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, said the launch of the Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance reflects the government's research and innovation efforts to achieve national goals. He emphasized the importance of building national competencies, promoting investment, and fostering partnerships with the private sector, research institutions and civil society.  

Eng. Al-Mushaiti added that the alliance aims to create opportunities for those interested in adopting innovative technologies in the agricultural and food sectors through a national platform. 

Eng. Al-Mushaiti said this initiative will contribute to the localization of technology, achieving food security goals and sustainability of the Kingdom's agricultural sector. He added that cooperation will enable the alliance to address challenges, create new economic opportunities, and effectively contribute to the future sustainability of agriculture and food in Saudi Arabia.
