KAUST Partners with NIDLP to Empower a New Generation of Innovators, Aligned with National Priorities

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has formed a strategic partnership with the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) to support its Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) program. This collaboration creates an integrated learning environment that enables TIE students to align their expertise with the Kingdom's priorities in research, development, and innovation (RDI), preparing them to contribute meaningfully to Vision 2030.

In partnership with KAUST, NIDLP will support the sponsorship of future students of the TIE program by offering scholarships in collaboration with NIDLP's partners. These students will be able to work on research and development projects that serve the objectives of NIDLP and the needs of its partners, contributing to innovative solutions in line with Vision 2030. In addition, NIDLP is committed to supporting these students in exploring career opportunities after graduation, either by employing them directly or guiding them to job opportunities in R&D fields related to the program's priorities.

The partnership launched with an inaugural lecture by NIDLP CEO Eng. Suliman Almazroua, titled "Vision 2030: Opening Future Opportunities in Saudi Arabia." During the lecture, he emphasized Saudi Arabia's shift toward a knowledge-based economy and spotlighted promising opportunities within NIDLP's sectors. He encouraged students to participate actively as innovators and entrepreneurs in realizing Vision 2030 and advancing sustainable growth.

The first of its kind in the region, the TIE program offers a unique learning experience that combines advanced technology and entrepreneurship, specifically aimed at finding solutions to global challenges through project-based and entrepreneurial learning. The 16-month program includes ten months on the KAUST campus, followed by six at a world-class innovation center, where students will dive into product and venture development and collaborate with innovation leaders and experts.

Dr. Aamir Farooq, Director of the TIE program and Principal Investigator of the FASTER laboratory at KAUST, said, "We are delighted to collaborate with NIDLP, as this partnership will allow our students to learn about real challenges in the local industry. This experience will allow them to develop entrepreneurial solutions that will make a tangible impact in vital sectors."
