الاهتمامات البحثية

يشكل الفوق جينوم (epigenome) واجهة الكروموسومات الجزيئية التي تسمح للجينوم بالتفاعل مع البيئة. ويلعب دوراً كبيراً في مساعدة الخلايا على التعلم والتذكر والحفاظ على حالتها الوظيفية في جميع مراحل الحياة وتمكين الكائنات الحية من التناغم مع الإشارات البيئية. و يهتم مختبر البروفسور أورلاندو في الآليات الأساسية للكروماتين التي تتحكم في هوية الخلية وتكونها. وتهدف الإشارة إلى ضبط الكروماتين وتنظيم النواة بواسطة بروتينات البولي كومب، ودور تفاعل بروتين ncRNA في ضبط الاستنساخ الجيني والفوق جينومية وصلتها بالنمو والاستنساخ الجيني التمايزي والتكيّف (مثل العمليات الأيضية)، وبخاصة في الظروف المجهدة. وكجزء من خصائص التكون الميكانيكية للجينوم في الاستجابة لمؤشرات النمو والمؤشرات البيئية ، يقوم مختبر البروفسور أورلاندو أيضاً بالتحقيق في التنظيم الفوق جيني والخصائص الحركية للعناصر القابلة للنقل ودورها في تمايز الخلايا والتنوع الفوق جينومي الحيوي البيولوجي .
